The reason car shipping in Dallas, TX tends to move well comes down to I-35. The interstate is the main north-south freight spine of the central United States, running from Laredo on the Mexican border up through Texas and on to Minnesota, and it splits at Hillsboro into I-35E through Dallas and I-35W through Fort Worth. Crossing it are I-20 along the south of the city and I-30 running east toward Arkansas, with I-45 heading south to Houston.

Layered on top is a dense tolled network that most drivers here use daily: the Dallas North Tollway, the President George Bush Turnpike (SH-190), and US-75 Central Expressway heading north through Richardson and Plano, all inside the ring formed by I-635, the LBJ Freeway. Pickup and delivery considerations in Dallas

Dallas is easier for large carriers than most big cities, but it is not uniform. The wide arterials and commercial frontage roads across North Dallas, Addison, Richardson and Far North Dallas will take a full-size trailer without difficulty. Older inner neighbourhoods are a different matter: the narrow residential streets of Lakewood, the M Streets, Junius Heights and parts of Oak Cliff have tight turning radii, mature trees and cars parked on both sides, and a trailer running roughly 75 to 80 feet simply will not fit.

Two more local specifics. Uptown and Deep Ellum have loading restrictions and traffic patterns that make a mid-morning or early-afternoon pickup far more realistic than a rush-hour one. And in Highland Park and University Park, private security and posted restrictions on commercial vehicles mean the driver will normally want to meet on a nearby commercial street instead.

None of this is unusual and none of it costs extra. Where the street will not work, the driver names a meeting point, typically a large retail lot or a wide stretch near a highway on-ramp, and you hand over the keys there.
