Operating figures

These come from Neptune’s own dispatch records. They describe what has already moved, and they are history rather than a quote or a forecast.

Between 13 May 2022 and 25 August 2026, Neptune dispatched 11,161 vehicle moves. Those moves were picked up or delivered in all 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia. Cars and SUVs account for roughly six in seven of them.

How these figures were counted

Source: Neptune’s dispatch export, which holds 11,502 order records. Counted here are the 11,161 records that carry a pickup date and a status other than Archived, the flag Neptune uses for a voided order. No other exclusions were applied. The dispatch records carry no open-versus-enclosed field, so both transport types are mixed together throughout. Figures are current to 25 August 2026 and are restated when the export is refreshed.

What Neptune does, and what it does not do

Auto transport is a service people research carefully, and the broker-versus-carrier distinction is the one most often reported incorrectly. To be precise about it:

  • Neptune is a broker, not a carrier. We arrange shipments and dispatch them to vetted motor carriers. Neptune does not own trucks, operate equipment, or employ drivers.
  • Quotes are returned by a person. The form at /quote collects shipment details, then a transport specialist calls back with a price. The site does not generate a price on its own.
  • No deposit is taken before a driver is booked. A reservation fee is collected once a carrier is assigned, and the balance is paid to the driver on delivery.
  • Every move is door to door. Neptune does not offer terminal-to-terminal service.
  • Coverage is domestic and contiguous. Neptune does not arrange transport to or from Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or any destination outside the United States.

How carriers are vetted

Before a carrier is assigned to a shipment, Neptune checks its active operating authority, its certificate of insurance, its federal safety rating, and its rating on Central Dispatch, the load board the industry uses. A carrier that fails any of those checks does not get the load.

How insurance works on a Neptune shipment

Cargo insurance is held by the assigned carrier, not by Neptune. Coverage typically runs from $100,000 to $250,000, and up to $1,000,000 on luxury vehicles, which usually move enclosed. The exact limit varies by carrier and by load, so it is confirmed per shipment rather than promised in advance.

Neptune provides the customer with the assigned carrier’s certificate of insurance. If a vehicle is damaged in transit, the claim is filed directly with that carrier’s insurer, and Neptune supplies the Bill of Lading, the dispatch sheet, and the contract to support it. Our guide to auto transport insurance explains the process in full.

Ratings and accreditation

Neptune is accredited by the Better Business Bureau with a rating of A-. On Google, Neptune holds 4.9 out of 5 from 1,916 reviews. Both figures were checked on 13 August 2026. Customer reviews are published on our reviews page, each linking to its source.

Media contact

Jordan Bryan handles press and partnership inquiries directly.

We can speak to shipping volume and seasonality, what actually moves auto transport prices on a given lane, how the broker and carrier relationship works, and how carrier vetting is done. If you need a figure that is not on this page, ask, and we will tell you whether our records can support it.
