Car shipping cost calculator
What cars and SUVs actually cost to ship, from our own dispatch records.
This is not a quote and it is not an estimate of what your move will cost. It is what cars and SUVs actually cost on 1,681 Neptune shipments picked up in the 12 months to 25 August 2026. Pick your two states to see the range for that part of the country, then talk to a specialist about your actual dates and vehicle.
Pick a pickup state and a delivery state to see what similar moves have cost.
There were not enough shipments on that pairing in the last 12 months to publish a band. Ask a specialist and we will price it from the live market.
This is what past shipments cost, not a quote. Your price depends on your actual dates, vehicle and addresses.

Neptune’s own dispatch records. Cars and SUVs only, picked up in the 12 months to 25 August 2026, voided orders excluded, 1,681 shipments in total. Each band shows the middle half of what was paid, from the 25th to the 75th percentile, rounded to the nearest $25. The quarter that paid least and the quarter that paid most are left out on purpose, because a minimum-to-maximum range tells you almost nothing. Cells are region pairs rather than named lanes because a single lane does not have enough shipments in a twelve month window to publish honestly. The records carry no open-versus-enclosed field, so every band mixes both.
What moves your price
The band above is a starting point, not an answer. Six things decide where inside it, or outside it, a real shipment lands.
- Distance and the actual corridor. Not straight-line miles. A move along a busy interstate that carriers already run costs less than a shorter one that pulls a truck off its route.
- Vehicle size and weight. These bands are cars and SUVs. Pickups, vans, and anything lifted or oversized take more deck space and cost more. Our cost guide publishes a separate pickup band.
- Whether it runs. An inoperable vehicle needs a winch and a carrier equipped for it, which narrows the pool of trucks that can take it.
- Open or enclosed. Enclosed transport sits at the top of these ranges and above them. Because our records do not separate the two, both are mixed into every band here.
- How flexible your dates are. A wide pickup window lets us wait for the right truck. A narrow one means taking what is available.
- Season. Snowbird lanes tighten and loosen predictably through the year, and carrier supply on any corridor moves week to week.
Why your price will not be exactly this number
Worth being blunt about the limits, because a calculator that hides them is not useful.
- These are past pickups, not a forecast. Fuel costs and carrier availability move constantly.
- They are region to region, not door to door. Manhattan to Miami Beach and rural Vermont to the Florida Panhandle both sit in the same cell, and they do not price the same.
- They cover cars and SUVs only.
- They mix open and enclosed transport, because the underlying records do not distinguish them.
For four corridors we publish the lane figures themselves rather than a regional band: New York to Florida, Florida to New York, California to Texas, and Texas to California. Those are narrower samples than the bands above, and they are the closest thing on the site to a real price for a real move.
The bands on this page cover cars and SUVs only. If you are moving something else, the rules change and so does the carrier pool: see boat transport, RV transport, or golf cart and ATV transport.
How to get your actual price
A specialist prices your real corridor, your real vehicle and your real dates. Fill in the quote form and someone calls you back with a number. We do not generate a price automatically, because a number produced without a carrier behind it is a guess that falls apart at dispatch.
Nothing is charged before a driver is booked. Once a carrier is assigned, a reservation fee is collected, and the balance is paid to the driver on delivery. Our guide to what car shipping costs walks through the whole picture, including national bands and the pickup figures.
