Transit figures use only shipments with a confirmed pickup and delivery date, and are measured from the day a carrier collects the vehicle to the day it is delivered, so they exclude the pickup window that comes first.

Pickup across the New York metro

Our own southbound shipments collect most often on Long Island, the single largest pickup area on this lane, ahead of Queens, Brooklyn and the rest of New York City. What changes between them is less the price than where a truck can legally stop.

• Long Island, Westchester and the Lower Hudson Valley. Driveways and wide residential streets. A full-size carrier can usually reach the door, which makes this the most straightforward pickup on the route. White Plains and Yonkers behave the same way.
• Brooklyn and Queens. Narrow streets, cars parked both sides and alternate-side rules. The driver normally arranges a nearby meeting point with room to load, often a wider avenue or a lot a few minutes away.
• Manhattan. A full-size car carrier cannot work most Manhattan blocks. Expect an agreed meeting point rather than a doorstep load.
