Why the trip south costs more than the trip home

Over the 24 months to August 2026, the median southbound car or SUV cost nearly 30 percent more than the median going the other way, Florida to Massachusetts. We read that as the wider snowbird market showing up in price: across the industry, fall demand runs heavily south, and carriers price the busy direction accordingly.
