Quincy, MA Auto Transport
Door-to-door car shipping to and from Quincy on open and enclosed carriers, from Quincy Center to the coastal necks and Marina Bay.
Neptune Auto Transport arranges Quincy auto transport and car shipping to and from every part of the city, door to door, on open and enclosed carriers. We move cars, trucks, SUVs and motorcycles between Quincy and the other 47 contiguous states, with the assigned carrier’s cargo insurance verified before loading and one all-inclusive price agreed up front. Quincy is easier to serve than Boston in almost every respect except one, and that exception is geography rather than traffic.
Auto transport in Quincy
Quincy sits directly south of Boston on the water, where Interstate 93 and Route 3 split at the Braintree interchange. That gives it the best of both: a carrier can be on I-93 heading north into Boston or south toward the Cape within minutes, and Route 3 runs down the length of the South Shore from here. Route 3A follows the coast through the older waterfront neighborhoods.
Most of the city is straightforward for a full-size truck. Streets are wider than Boston’s, a large share of the housing has driveways, and there is far more off-street parking. For a great many Quincy addresses a genuine doorstep pickup is normal rather than the exception it is across the city line.
The peninsulas are the exception
Quincy’s shoreline is a series of necks and points, and several of them are effectively one-road-in neighborhoods. Houghs Neck runs out into the harbor on a single main road with residential side streets and very little room to turn a 75-foot vehicle around. Squantum reaches Moon Island across a narrow causeway. Adams Shore, Germantown and Marina Bay have the same shape on a smaller scale: dead-end streets, tight corners and, in places, seawalls where the road simply stops.
None of that prevents a pickup. It changes where it happens. On the necks the driver will normally arrange to meet at the landward end of the neighborhood, on a main road with room to load, rather than attempting a turnaround at a dead end. It is the one part of Quincy where the meeting-point conversation matters, and the driver will call ahead to have it. There is no additional charge for meeting nearby, in Quincy or anywhere else.
Neighborhoods and carrier access
- West Quincy, Montclair and Wollaston Hill. Residential streets with driveways and reasonable width. The simplest addresses in the city.
- Quincy Center. A compact downtown with one-way streets and recent mixed-use construction. Workable, and better early in the day than at rush hour.
- North Quincy and Wollaston. Denser, with more on-street parking and some two- and three-family blocks. Usually fine; a nearby cross street works when a block is tight.
- Houghs Neck, Squantum, Adams Shore and Germantown. The coastal necks described above. Plan on a meet at the landward end.
- Marina Bay. Newer waterfront development with structured parking. Garage clearances rule out a carrier, so the handover happens at street level.
Who ships cars in and out of Quincy
Quincy is a commuter city. The Red Line runs through it with four stations, and a great many residents work in Boston while keeping a car for everything else, so household vehicle ownership is high and moves in and out of the city are constant rather than seasonal. Relocations account for most of what we handle here.
The seasonal layer is the familiar one. South Shore winter residents ship south through the fall and back in spring, which is what snowbird auto transport and our Massachusetts to Florida route cover. Quincy’s position at the top of Route 3 helps on that lane, since a carrier collecting here is on I-93 southbound immediately rather than working its way out of the city first.
We also handle vehicles bought from out-of-state sellers and at auction, and motorcycle shipping for riders storing bikes over the winter.
How car shipping to or from Quincy works
You request a quote with both ZIP codes, the vehicle and a rough date, and a specialist calls you back with one all-inclusive price. Once you accept, we dispatch into our vetted carrier network, checking operating authority, the insurance certificate and the safety rating before a carrier is assigned. A reservation fee is collected only after a driver has been assigned, and the balance is paid to the driver at delivery. At pickup you and the driver walk the vehicle together and sign a bill of lading recording its condition, and you do the same at delivery.
Open or enclosed from Quincy
Open carrier transport is the right default for an everyday vehicle. Enclosed auto transport is worth the premium for classics, exotics and high-value cars, and worth a look in winter: Quincy is on the water, and salt air on top of road salt is harder on a vehicle than either alone. Enclosed trailers are longer and taller than open ones, which matters on the necks, so if your address is out on a point expect the loading spot to be further back toward the main road. Is enclosed transport worth it goes through the decision.
