Corpus Christi, Texas Auto Transport & Car Shipping
Door-to-door vehicle shipping to and from the Coastal Bend, including Navy relocations and seasonal moves.
Neptune Auto Transport arranges auto transport in Corpus Christi, TX to and from all 48 contiguous states. Corpus Christi is a coastal market at the end of a single interstate, which makes it different from every inland Texas city: carriers come here deliberately rather than passing through, and the sea air is a genuine factor in how you should ship a vehicle. Shipping a car to or from Corpus Christi
I-37 is the only interstate serving the city, running northwest to San Antonio. US-181 crosses the Harbor Bridge to the north toward Portland and Rockport, US-77 heads south into the Rio Grande Valley, and SH-358, the South Padre Island Drive, is the main east-west artery across the city itself.
Because I-37 is a spur rather than a through route, Corpus Christi does not get the incidental carrier traffic that Houston or San Antonio enjoy. A driver collecting here is usually making the trip specifically. In practical terms that means car shipping in Corpus Christi rewards flexible dates more than it does in a major metro. Give a few days of leeway and scheduling becomes considerably easier.
Salt air, storms and why enclosed gets asked about here
Two coastal realities shape the advice we give in the Coastal Bend.
The first is salt. Sustained exposure to marine air is hard on paint, chrome and unprotected metal. On a short regional move that is irrelevant. On a long open-carrier haul it is still not usually a problem for an everyday vehicle. But for a classic, a restored vehicle, or anything with brightwork you care about, enclosed transport is a more reasonable request here than in an inland city, and we get asked for it more often as a result.
The second is hurricane season, which runs from June through November on the Gulf. A named storm can close the Harbor Bridge approaches and the coastal highways and hold carriers out of the area for days. We do not dispatch into unsafe conditions. If a storm affects your dates we tell you as soon as we know and reschedule, and during those months some date flexibility is genuinely worth building in.
Navy and university moves
Naval Air Station Corpus Christi sits on Ward Island on the south side of the city, with NAS Kingsville about forty miles southwest. Military relocations are a steady part of what we arrange here. As at any installation, a civilian carrier generally cannot collect from inside the gate, so we arrange a meeting point outside. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, on the same island, adds student vehicle moves at each semester changeover.
How door-to-door transport works
All moves are door-to-door, with no terminal step. You send the ZIPs, vehicle details and earliest date, an agent calls back with a quote, and nothing is charged until a driver is booked. The driver arranges the window with you, and you inspect and sign a Bill of Lading at collection and delivery. See how it works.
Pickup and delivery access in the Coastal Bend
Most of Corpus Christi handles a full-size carrier without trouble. SPID and the main arterials are wide, and the newer developments on the south side have good access.
The constrained areas are specific. Downtown and the streets near the bayfront are tight and busy. North Beach access depends on the Harbor Bridge approaches, which are worth checking before fixing a date. And Padre Island and Mustang Island, out toward Port Aransas, have narrow residential streets, soft sand shoulders and low clearances, so island collections are normally arranged at a commercial lot on the mainland side rather than at the property. If your vehicle does not run and it is on the island, tell us at quote stage, because that combination needs planning.
Open and enclosed options
Open carriers handle most moves and give the widest availability, which matters more here than in a metro market. Enclosed is available and is a fair choice for high-value, classic or freshly restored vehicles, with the salt-air argument above. Because Corpus Christi is a spur market, enclosed capacity in particular needs more notice.
Vehicles we ship from Corpus Christi
Sedans, SUVs and pickups, plus motorcycles, classic and collector vehicles, non-running project cars requiring a winch, and dealer and auction units. Coastal vehicles sometimes carry underbody corrosion that affects how they can be strapped down, so mention it if the vehicle has spent years near the water.
Cost and timing considerations
No published prices and no guaranteed dates. The variables are distance, how well the lane is served, vehicle size, weight and operability, open versus enclosed, date flexibility and season. The Corpus Christi specific factor is carrier density: as a spur market off I-37, it is less densely served than the Texas metros, so flexible dates have more effect on both scheduling and price than they would in Houston. Hurricane season adds its own variability from June to November. See the cost guide.
Routes to and from the Coastal Bend
Most long-haul moves route through San Antonio first. The main lanes are Texas to California, California to Texas, Texas to Florida, Florida to Texas, Texas to New York and New York to Texas. In state we move frequently between Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Houston and McAllen. See the Texas auto transport page.
Preparing your vehicle
Wash it, which matters more on the coast because salt film hides paint condition and makes the inspection less accurate. Photograph every panel. Leave about a quarter tank. Remove personal belongings, disable the alarm, and mention corrosion, leaks or a weak battery. Full list in the preparation guide.
Why customers here ship rather than drive
Navy relocations, students at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, families moving in or out of the Coastal Bend, vehicles bought out of state, seasonal moves, and second vehicles for households relocating a long way. Corpus Christi is a long drive from most of the country, which is exactly when shipping starts to make sense.
