I-35 is the only interstate through Austin, and it carries both local commuter traffic and national freight through a corridor that was not designed for either volume. US-183, SH-71 and US-290 handle cross-town movement, MoPac (Loop 1) parallels I-35 to the west, and SH-45 links the outer suburbs.

The useful detail for auto transport in Austin is SH-130, the tolled bypass east of the city. Long-haul carriers running between San Antonio and the Dallas area frequently take it specifically to avoid central Austin. That is good news and bad news at once: it means plenty of carrier traffic passes near Austin, but it also means a driver may prefer to meet you on the eastern side rather than fight through downtown. Hill Country pickup access

This is the single most common access problem in the Austin market, and it is entirely manageable as long as it is known in advance. The driver will arrange a meeting point on a main road such as RM 620, RR 2222 or SH-71, and you drive the vehicle out to meet them. If your dates fall near a major festival or race weekend, either build in flexibility or plan a meeting point away from the core.
