Texas to Georgia Car Shipping
Door-to-door auto transport from Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and El Paso to metro Atlanta, Savannah, Columbus, Augusta and the rest of Georgia. In our records half the cars arrived the day after pickup.
Texas to Georgia car shipping, in Neptune Auto Transport’s records, starts mostly in Dallas-Fort Worth, which supplied more than a third of pickups. It also reaches further into Georgia than any other Georgia-bound lane we track. Three in ten cars went beyond metro Atlanta: to the coast, Columbus, the middle of the state, the Athens side and the Augusta area. If you are moving from Texas to Georgia, half the cars arrived the day after pickup. The median was 1.5 days once loaded. Spring is the busy season, the opposite of our Georgia to Texas lane.
Where Texas cars went in Georgia
| Delivery area | Share of deliveries |
|---|---|
| North metro Atlanta | 38% |
| Atlanta (city) | 17% |
| South metro Atlanta | 12% |
| Savannah and coastal Georgia | 7% |
| Other areas | 26% |
North metro Atlanta took 38 percent of deliveries (Alpharetta, Marietta, Roswell, Tucker, Lawrenceville, Buford) and the city of Atlanta about one in six, with the south side (Union City, McDonough, Jonesboro) taking one in eight. The other three in ten went beyond the metro: Brunswick and Hinesville on the coast south of Savannah, Columbus, Fort Valley and Dublin in the middle of the state, Winder and Good Hope toward Athens, Metter and Leesburg in South Georgia, and Hephzibah outside Augusta. Going west, only about one car in eight starts outside metro Atlanta, so the wider spread belongs to the trip east.
| Pickup area | Share of pickups |
|---|---|
| Dallas-Fort Worth | 36% |
| Greater Houston | 28% |
| San Antonio | 12% |
| El Paso | 7% |
| Other areas | 17% |
Dallas-Fort Worth supplied 36 percent (Dallas, Arlington, Fort Worth, Irving, McKinney, Denton) and Greater Houston 28 percent (Houston, Spring, Katy, Baytown, Rosenberg). San Antonio with New Braunfels and Cibolo supplied about one in eight, and El Paso about one in fourteen, both more than they take going the other way. McAllen, Edinburg, Leander, Hutto, Lubbock and Killeen supplied the rest.
How long does it take to ship a car from Texas to Georgia?
The median in our records was 1.5 days from loading to delivery: half the cars arrived the next day, and nine in ten within 1 to 3 days. Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston pickups both ran a 1-day median into metro Atlanta; San Antonio pickups ran 2, and deliveries beyond metro Atlanta 2. Westbound, the same trip runs a little longer, at 2 days.
By road, Dallas to Atlanta is about 780 miles, almost all of it on Interstate 20, and Houston to Atlanta about 795. On standard service the pickup usually comes 2 to 5 business days after booking; expedited auto transport can shorten that. These are finished shipments, not a promised date.

Army moves between Texas and Georgia posts
Some trips on this lane ran between the towns outside Army posts. A Killeen car, from outside Fort Hood, went to Columbus, home of Fort Benning; a car from the San Antonio area, home of Joint Base San Antonio, went to Hinesville, outside Fort Stewart, and another went to Hephzibah, next to Fort Gordon near Augusta. Three more cars left El Paso, home of Fort Bliss. Our records do not say who traveled on orders, so we do not claim a military share for this lane.
If you are moving on orders, we offer a military discount, plan the pickup around your report date, and meet you outside the gate when a post does not admit commercial carriers. See military vehicle transport for how PCS shipments work with us.
Pickups, cars and few SUVs
| Vehicle type | Share of shipments |
|---|---|
| Cars and sedans | 64% |
| SUVs and crossovers | 19% |
| Pickup trucks | 12% |
| Vans | 3% |
| Motorcycles | 2% |
SUVs were fewer than one in five here, one of the lowest shares among our 50 busiest lanes, while pickup trucks were about one in eight, one of the highest. If you are shipping a pickup truck from Texas to Georgia, tell us about a lift, oversized tires or a loaded bed when you book, since those change how it fits on the trailer.
Open or enclosed from Texas
An open carrier handles most Texas to Georgia auto transport at the lowest cost. Enclosed transport is worth it for a classic, a show truck or a motorcycle you want kept clean and out of the weather, and it needs a few more days of notice.
When to book: spring is the busy season
For Texas to Georgia vehicle shipping, March to May carried almost four in ten pickups in our records, and September to November was the quietest stretch. Half our customers booked 6 or more days before pickup.
- In spring, book a week or two out to get the date you want.
- Remove your toll tag (TxTag, EZ TAG or TollTag), so tolls between Texas and Georgia aren’t billed to you.
- Keep the load light and below the window line; see what can ride inside the car.
- Photograph the car at pickup and keep your copy of the Bill of Lading.
How we measured it
The shares and times on this page are from Neptune Auto Transport’s records of Texas to Georgia orders placed from October 2022 to May 2026, with voided orders removed. Areas group ZIP codes by their first three digits. Transit is counted from loading to delivery, and every shipment on this lane had both dates. The cost comparison with Georgia to Texas uses median prices by year for cars and SUVs; we publish only its direction, not the figures. Lane comparisons use our busiest lanes, and percentages are rounded to 100. No order, customer or address is shown, and nothing here promises a price or a delivery date.
