Texas to Michigan in summer, Michigan to Texas in winter

Going south, December to February was the busiest stretch, a larger winter share than on any of our 75 busiest lanes. If you are moving to Michigan, summer was the most common time to arrive in our records, and summer is when you should book early.
Customers on this lane booked a median of two weeks before pickup, one of the longest lead times among our busy lanes. In every year from 2022 to 2025, the median Texas to Michigan shipment in our records cost less than the median Michigan to Texas one.

Open or enclosed into Michigan
An open carrier handles most Texas to Michigan auto transport at the lowest cost, and in summer it is the natural choice. A car arriving between November and March meets salted Michigan roads, so enclosed transport is worth a look for a classic or a new car then. Our Detroit auto transport page covers enclosed carriers at the Michigan end.
Registering a Texas car in Michigan
Michigan gives new residents no grace period. Its Secretary of State asks new Michigan residents to title and register a car right away at a branch office. Bring the Texas title, proof of Michigan no-fault insurance and ID. If a lender holds the title, bring your Texas registration instead.
- Book two weeks ahead in summer. Half our customers booked 14 or more days before pickup.
- Remove your TxTag, EZ TAG or TollTag so tolls on the way north are not charged to you.
- Keep boxes out of the car; a few light things below the window line is the most carriers accept (see why).
- Inspect the car on arrival in Michigan and note anything new on the Bill of Lading before signing.
How we measured it
All figures come from Neptune Auto Transport’s Texas to Michigan orders placed from August 2022 to November 2025, without voided orders. Areas are based on the first three digits of each ZIP code, and transit runs from loading to delivery, minus one record with no delivery date. Seasons follow the pickup month. The cost comparison with Michigan to Texas uses median prices by year for cars and SUVs, and only its direction is published, never the figures. Rankings use our 75 busiest interstate lanes, and shares are rounded to 100. No customer or address is shown, and nothing promises a price or a date.
