Here is the cost, the timing and the PennDOT steps.

Philadelphia priced lower than Harrisburg, Scranton or Pittsburgh

The rows below each come from three or more different recent shipments, dispatched between November 2025 to October 2026: a car that runs, an open carrier, door-to-door service.

Texas to Pennsylvania car shipping cost by destination and vehicle, recent prices from November 2025 to October 2026
Route and vehicleRecent price range
Texas to Philadelphia and its suburbs, car$1,000 to $1,350
Texas to the rest of Pennsylvania (Reading, Pittsburgh, the northeast), car$1,150 to $1,600

Texas to western Pennsylvania, pickup truck$1,150 to $1,700

For SUVs and pickup trucks, Philadelphia was usually the cheaper end of the state: SUVs to Philadelphia sat at the bottom of the range, and pickups to western Pennsylvania reached $1,700, above anything Houston to Philadelphia cost. Cars were closer. Across every route, cars ran from $1,000 to $1,600, and most went for about $1,100 to $1,300. Comparing TX to PA quotes? Those are the figures to check them against.

Treat these as recent market rates rather than a promise: the two addresses, the vehicle, your dates and the carriers heading northeast all move the final figure, and a small town off the interstate can cost more than a city. Our quotes are free and include everything.

Title within 20 days, inspection within 10: what PennDOT asks of a Texas car

PennDOT asks new residents to apply for a Pennsylvania title and registration within 20 days of moving, and you need a Pennsylvania driver’s license or photo ID before you apply. The title form (MV-1) needs the vehicle identification number checked against the Texas title: either a tracing of the VIN plate, or a check by a certified inspection mechanic or a notary.

Once it is registered, the car needs a Pennsylvania safety inspection within 10 days. An emissions inspection depends on your county: 25 counties take part, including Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery around Philadelphia, Allegheny around Pittsburgh, and Dauphin, Lancaster, York, Lehigh and Berks. Moving from Texas to Pennsylvania with a car that just passed a Texas emissions test does not skip this step.

Philadelphia-led pickups on the return route

Our Pennsylvania to Texas guide covers the opposite direction, where Philadelphia and its suburbs supplied about half the pickups, the median was also 3 days, and the page explains Texas registration after the 2025 inspection change. How we measured it

Everything above that counts shipments, medians or vehicle types comes from Neptune Auto Transport’s own Texas to Pennsylvania orders picked up from July 2022 to August 2026, voided orders excluded. We group places by the first three digits of the ZIP code, time each trip from loading to delivery and round shares so they add up to 100. The price table is a different source: recent comparable shipments on these routes, dispatched November 2025 to October 2026, not our order records and not a quote. We name no customer or address and promise no price or date.
