Nevada to Texas Car Shipping
Car transport from Nevada to Texas, door to door, from Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas and Reno to Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio and Austin. Our trips took about 3 days once loaded.
Nevada to Texas car shipping, in Neptune Auto Transport’s records, is almost all Las Vegas: 23 of 25 pickups were in the Las Vegas Valley, including Henderson, North Las Vegas and an address at Nellis Air Force Base. In Texas, the Houston area and Dallas-Fort Worth took about a third of the cars each. Trips took 3 days at the median once the car was loaded. If you are moving from Las Vegas to Dallas or Houston, recent prices for a car ran $950 to $1,550, most of them $1,100 to $1,200.
How many days from the Las Vegas Valley to Texas?
| Pickup area | Share of pickups |
|---|---|
| Las Vegas addresses | 68% |
| Henderson, North Las Vegas, Nellis AFB and northern Nevada | 32% |
Three, at the median. Of 25 timed trips, 23 took 2 to 4 days, and the longest took 6. Seventeen pickups had Las Vegas addresses; North Las Vegas added three, Henderson two and Nellis Air Force Base one, and only two came from northern Nevada, Reno and Yerington. Cars from the valley to the Houston area took 2 to 3 days at the median, and to Dallas-Fort Worth 3. For a move on military orders, our military vehicle transport page covers the military discount.
Google’s driving estimate makes Las Vegas to Houston 1,456 miles, about 21 hours on I-40, and Las Vegas to Dallas 1,222 miles, close to 18. On a carrier those miles stay off your car. Expect the pickup window first: on standard service a carrier is usually assigned 2 to 5 business days after booking, and expedited auto transport makes it shorter.
Las Vegas to Houston or Dallas: what does each one cost?
Recent all-in prices to ship a car from Las Vegas to Texas, each row resting on at least three separate shipments dispatched from September to October 2026, for a vehicle that runs, on an open carrier, door to door:
| Route and vehicle | Recent price range |
|---|---|
| Las Vegas metro (Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas) to Dallas-Fort Worth, car | $950 to $1,200 |
| Las Vegas to the Houston area (Houston, Stafford, Freeport), car | $1,150 to $1,550 |
| Las Vegas metro to Dallas-Fort Worth, SUV | $1,000 to $1,200 |
| Las Vegas to Houston, SUV | $1,050 to $1,200 |
| Las Vegas to Houston, pickup truck | $1,200 to $1,600 |

The two big metros priced within about $100 of each other. Cars to Dallas-Fort Worth, from Plano and Coppell to Pantego, ran $950 to $1,200; cars to the Houston area mostly ran $1,150 to $1,200, with one Freeport listing higher. Across all ten Las Vegas car listings the range was $950 to $1,550, most of them $1,100 to $1,200. SUVs ran $1,000 to $1,300, most $1,050 to $1,200, and pickup trucks $1,200 to $1,600, most $1,200 to $1,500.
Your price depends on the exact pickup and delivery addresses and on the vehicle, so treat these as recent examples rather than a quote. The car shipping cost calculator gives a fast range for any two ZIP codes.
Houston edged Dallas-Fort Worth, nine cars to eight
| Delivery area | Share of deliveries |
|---|---|
| Houston area | 36% |
| Dallas-Fort Worth | 32% |
| Elsewhere in Texas | 32% |
The Houston area took nine cars: Houston itself five times, then Cypress, Montgomery, Richmond and the port town of Freeport. Dallas-Fort Worth took eight, Arlington twice and one each to Irving, Grand Prairie, Garland, Mesquite, Denton and Cedar Hill. The other eight went to San Antonio twice, Austin, Dripping Springs, Bryan, Beaumont, Warren and Pharr in the Rio Grande Valley.
Our Dallas and Fort Worth pages cover delivery on the north side of the state.
Does a Reno pickup cost more than one in Las Vegas?
Yes, by about $350 to $400 for a car going to the Houston area. Recent Reno-area listings, from Reno, Sparks, Carson City and McCarran to the Houston area, ran $1,350 to $1,700 for a car, across four separate shipments dispatched in September and October 2026, against $1,150 to $1,200 for most Las Vegas cars. The road explains much of it: Google’s estimate for Reno to Houston is 1,897 miles, about 440 more than from Las Vegas.
Northern Nevada was a small part of our own records, two pickups of 25, so a specialist quotes Reno-area SUVs and pickups one at a time rather than from a range.
Nevada plates, Nevada insurance and the Texas paperwork
The order of steps matters when you leave Nevada. Register the car in Texas first; then surrender your Nevada plates and cancel the Nevada registration, which the Nevada DMV lets former residents do online; and only then cancel the Nevada insurance. Nevada checks insurance against every active plate, so dropping the policy while the plates are still registered can bring a fine and a suspended registration.
On the Texas side you have 30 days to register at the county tax office, with Form 130-U, your Nevada title and Texas liability insurance. A personal car no longer needs a Texas safety inspection, but Harris, Dallas, Tarrant and 14 other counties still require an emissions test before registration. Our Ohio to Texas route walks through the Texas steps in more detail.
Picking a trailer for a Las Vegas SUV or a classic
| Vehicle type | Share of shipments |
|---|---|
| Cars and sedans | 52% |
| SUVs, a pickup and a van | 48% |
Cars were just over half, from a Pontiac Grand Prix and a Chrysler PT Cruiser to a BMW 528 and a Mercedes S-Class. SUVs made up most of the rest: a Range Rover Sport, a 2023 Tesla Model X, a 2023 Lexus GX 460, a Kia Sportage and a Mazda CX-5, plus a Nissan Frontier pickup and a Toyota Sienna.
The prices above are for an open carrier, which is how most of these cars travel. For a luxury SUV or a classic that you want out of the desert sun and road grit, enclosed auto transport keeps it covered across the whole 1,200 to 1,500 miles and costs more; luxury and exotic car transport covers higher-value cars. Before pickup, leave a quarter tank, clear out loose items and note any chips or scratches with the driver on the bill of lading.
How we measured it
Our figures on areas, timing and vehicles come from Neptune Auto Transport’s Nevada to Texas shipments picked up from October 2022 to July 2026: 25 orders, after leaving out one voided order. Each area groups ZIP codes by their first three digits; all 25 trips are timed from loading to delivery; shares are rounded to 100. The price tables use a different source, recent comparable shipments dispatched from September to October 2026, and they are not quotes.
