Cost & Pricing · Oct 29, 2026 · 5 min read · By

Recent October 2026 prices put a car from New York, New Jersey or Massachusetts to Florida at about $1,100 to $1,425, all in, from California at $1,400 to $1,550 and from Georgia at $500 to $650. Below are the figures by lane and vehicle, how long the trip takes, where the cars land and what moves an individual price.

What shipping a car to Florida costs now, lane by lane

These are recent all-in prices for comparable shipments dispatched in October 2026, for a running vehicle on an open carrier, door to door. Each figure is the one shown on that lane's own page, where the listings behind it are described.

Recent prices for shipping a car to Florida by lane and vehicle, October 2026

Georgia to Florida$500 to $650$550 to $750$550 to $650

The New York and California rows are for the Florida peninsula. The Panhandle costs more even though it is closer: New York to Milton and Fort Walton Beach ran $1,700 to $1,800, and California to Pace, Pensacola, Navarre, DeFuniak Springs and Panama City Beach $1,700 to $1,900. The trip south also costs more than the trip home: in the same month, cars from Florida to Massachusetts ran $750 to $925, and to New Jersey $650 to $1,050.

Texas to Florida depends on where the car starts. SUVs from Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin and East Texas ran $800 to $900 and those from West Texas and the Panhandle $1,200 to $1,300; cars from the El Paso area ran $1,100 to $1,500 and pickup trucks from West and South Texas $1,500 to $2,000. The Indiana, Maryland and Tennessee to Florida pages list recent prices by vehicle as well.

Your own price is set from your two ZIP codes, the vehicle and the dates you need, and it can fall outside these ranges, so treat them as a recent snapshot rather than a rate card. Enclosed transport costs more than open. These prices follow a sharp rise in diesel in 2026; our guide to how fuel costs affect car shipping rates explains why that matters. A specialist prices your actual addresses, vehicle and dates, and the figure you are given is all-inclusive.

How long it takes to ship a car to Florida

Florida sits at the far end of the South, so trips into it run about a day longer than our region-wide medians. Across 388 delivered car and SUV trips into Florida from other states, picked up between May 2022 and August 2026, the days from pickup to delivery were:

  • From the Northeast: a median of 3 days, with the middle half of trips taking 2 to 4.
  • From the Midwest: a median of 3 days, the middle half 2 to 3.
  • From elsewhere in the South: a median of 2 days, the middle half 1 to 2. Trips from Georgia and North Carolina usually arrive the day after pickup.
  • From the West: a median of 5 days, the middle half 4 to 6. From California alone, the median is 6 days.

Those are days on the road once the car is loaded, from past trips, not a promise for yours. Arranging the pickup takes time on top of that, depending on the route and how flexible your dates are. Our transit-time guide covers the rest of the country the same way.

Where the cars come from and where they land

New York and California send us the most cars bound for Florida, followed by Texas and New Jersey, then Georgia, Illinois and Massachusetts.

On the Florida end, Miami is the most common delivery city by a wide margin, followed by Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Jacksonville. The Atlantic coast from Miami to West Palm Beach, with Hollywood, Pompano Beach and Boca Raton in between, takes the largest share. On the Gulf coast, Tampa, Naples and Fort Myers lead, and Pensacola leads the Panhandle.

When to ship

Our records show no fall rush in the number of cars heading to Florida. October and November held 15 percent of Florida-bound pickups, the same share as across all our interstate lanes, and summer is the busiest stretch, as it is across our lanes overall.

Individual lanes can lean. On Massachusetts to Florida, September to December was the busiest third of the year, with 38 percent of shipments.

Volume is not price. For how prices on routes between Florida and the Northeast and Midwest move month by month, see the corridor table in our guide to when to ship a car. If you spend winters in Florida, our snowbird car shipping guide covers planning both legs.

What moves an individual price

  • How far down the peninsula the car goes. From Newark, Jacksonville is about 920 miles, Tampa about 1,130 and Miami about 1,280.
  • The delivery address. 55-plus developments and gated communities in Southwest Florida and Palm Beach County often restrict full-size trucks, so delivery becomes a short meet outside the gate.
  • The vehicle. Pickups, vans and large SUVs take more deck space than a sedan and cost more, and a car that does not run needs a carrier with a winch.
  • Open or enclosed. Enclosed transport costs substantially more than open, because the trailer holds fewer vehicles.
  • Your dates. A few days of flexibility around pickup makes your car easier to fit into a load.
