Tennessee to Florida Car Shipping
Tennessee to Florida auto transport, door to door, from Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga to Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando and South Florida. Our records put the median trip at 2 days.
Tennessee to Florida car shipping, in Neptune Auto Transport’s records, starts across Middle and East Tennessee. Half our pickups were in the Nashville area and around Cookeville, and 41% in East Tennessee, from Knoxville and the Tri-Cities to the Chattanooga area. A third of the vehicles were pickup trucks or vans, more than on any of our other routes into Florida with 20 or more orders, and the median trip took 2 days. In recent months, cars and SUVs to Jacksonville ran about $650 to $800. Moving from Tennessee to Florida? Here is the cost, the timing and the VIN check.
Pickups and vans made up a third of what we moved to Florida
| Vehicle type | Share of shipments |
|---|---|
| Cars and sedans | 41% |
| Pickup trucks and vans | 32% |
| SUVs | 27% |
Seven of our 22 Tennessee to Florida shipments were pickup trucks or vans, 32%. On our other routes into Florida that share is about 11%, and none of those with 20 or more orders comes as high. The pickups were a GMC Sierra 2500, two Ford F-150s and a 1994 Isuzu; the vans were a Ram ProMaster, a Ram ProMaster City and one more van. SUVs ran from a Ford Escape and a Toyota RAV4 to a Mercedes G-Class, and the cars from a Fiat 500 to a BMW 535.
For a truck or van, tell us the height, any roof rack, ladder rack or topper, and whether the bed or cargo area holds anything, since that decides where it rides on the trailer. Carriers usually want the cargo area empty. Pickups heading to South Florida recently ran about $700 to $850, and vans are quoted one at a time.
Jacksonville, South Florida or the Gulf Coast: recent prices
The table groups recent comparable shipments, dispatched from October 2025 to October 2026, by where they delivered in Florida. Each row covers an operable vehicle on an open carrier, door to door, and rests on at least three separate shipments.
| Route and vehicle | Recent price range |
|---|---|
| Middle Tennessee and Memphis to Jacksonville, cars and SUVs | $650 to $800 |
| Tennessee to South Florida, cars and SUVs | $700 to $1,050 |
| Tennessee to South Florida, pickup trucks | $700 to $850 |
| Tennessee to Central Florida, the Gulf Coast and the Treasure Coast, cars, SUVs and pickups | $650 to $900 |
Jacksonville came in lowest, with most of those cars and SUVs at about $700 to $750, because it is the shortest run, reached by I-75 and I-10 at the top of the state. South Florida costs more and spreads wider, since Miami is several hundred miles farther down the peninsula. These are recent rates, not a fixed price, and they change through the year; your quote depends on both addresses, the vehicle, your dates and which carriers are heading south. Every quote is free and all-inclusive.
From Antioch to Johnson City: where the Tennessee pickups were
| Pickup area | Share of pickups |
|---|---|
| Middle Tennessee (Nashville area, Cookeville) | 50% |
| East Tennessee (Knoxville, the Tri-Cities, the Chattanooga area) | 41% |
Middle Tennessee supplied half the pickups: Antioch and Nashville three times each, then Cookeville twice and Clarksville, Goodlettsville and Joelton once each. East Tennessee supplied 41%: Knoxville three times, Bristol and Johnson City in the Tri-Cities, and Chattanooga, Sewanee, Copperhill and Charleston in the southeast. The last two came from Jackson and from Collierville, outside Memphis, the only pickup in the Memphis area on this route.
Cars from the Nashville area and from East Tennessee both took 2 days at the median. Mountain roads in the east sometimes keep a full carrier off a narrow street, so the driver may ask to meet at a wider road nearby.
South Florida, Tampa Bay and Orlando: where the cars went
| Delivery area | Share of deliveries |
|---|---|
| South Florida | 36% |
| Tampa Bay and the Orlando area | 41% |
| Southwest Florida, the Panhandle and North Florida | 23% |
South Florida took 36% of the cars: Fort Lauderdale, Delray Beach and Boynton Beach twice each, plus Boca Raton and North Miami Beach. Tampa Bay and the Orlando area took 41%: Orlando three times and Sanford, then Tampa, Lakeland, Dade City, Haines City and Myakka City. The rest went to Port Charlotte, Fort Myers and LaBelle in Southwest Florida, Pensacola in the Panhandle and Lake City in North Florida.
South Florida and Tampa Bay deliveries both took 2 days at the median. In condo towers and gated communities, door-to-door delivery usually means the gate or a nearby lot, so mention gate codes or a guard desk when you book.
Two days to Florida, whether you start in Nashville or Knoxville
From loading to delivery the median trip took 2 days. Eight of 21 cars arrived the day after pickup, 19 within 2 days and all of them within 3. Google puts Nashville to Jacksonville at about 593 miles, or just under 9 hours on I-75 South, Nashville to Orlando at about 687 miles, and Knoxville to Miami at about 875 miles by I-75 and Florida’s Turnpike.
The pickup date is set separately. It depends on where in Tennessee the car is, which carriers are loading south and how much room your dates allow. If you winter in Florida and keep a home in Tennessee, our snowbird auto transport service handles both legs. The median describes finished trips, not a promised date.
The Auto Train starts in Virginia, not Tennessee
Amtrak’s Auto Train carries passengers and their cars, and it runs only between Lorton, Virginia, near Washington, and Sanford, Florida, near Orlando. You ride on the same train, at least one passenger must be licensed to drive the vehicle, and Amtrak sets limits on length, height, width and ground clearance; dual-wheel pickups are not accepted. Check the Auto Train vehicle requirements before you plan around it.
From Tennessee the train is a detour. Google puts Nashville to Lorton at about 659 miles and Knoxville to Lorton at about 481, northeast and away from Florida, before the overnight ride south. Shipping door to door skips both drives, and recent cars and SUVs to Jacksonville ran about $650 to $800.
Titling a Tennessee car in Florida: VIN check first
Florida moves fast: the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles gives new residents 10 days to title and register a car, and you need Florida insurance from an agent licensed in Florida first. The step that trips people up is the VIN verification. Someone has to look at the car in person, check the vehicle identification number on the dash and in the door jamb, record the odometer, and sign form HSMV 82042.
FLHSMV accepts that check from a law enforcement officer, a military police officer or a licensed Florida dealer. Since the car has to be in Florida for it, schedule the check for after delivery, then take the signed form, your Tennessee title, ID and proof of Florida insurance to the tax collector’s office. If a lender holds the title, ask them to send it to Florida. Our Florida auto transport page covers deliveries anywhere else in the state.
How we measured it
The shares, medians and vehicle mix come from Neptune Auto Transport’s own Tennessee to Florida shipments picked up from June 2023 to July 2026, with voided orders left out. Areas are built from the first three digits of each ZIP code, transit runs from loading to delivery and leaves out one record with the same pickup and delivery date, and the comparison is against our other routes into Florida. Percentages are rounded so each table adds to 100. The price table is separate: it reflects recent comparable shipments dispatched from October 2025 to October 2026, grouped by delivery region, not our order records, and it is not a quote. No customer or address is named, and nothing here promises a price or a date.
