Georgia to Florida is a short lane with a steady flow of cars all year, and most people who call about it ask the price first. So this page starts there, with what Neptune Auto Transport's own shipments on the lane have cost, and then covers where the cars come from, where they go and how quickly they get there.

How much does it cost to ship a car from Georgia to Florida?

The table shows what comparable shipments from Georgia to Florida recently cost, all in, for a running vehicle on an open carrier, door to door. Each row rests on three or more separate shipments, dispatched in October 2026.

Georgia to Florida car shipping cost by vehicle, recent prices from October 2026
Route and vehicleRecent price range
Georgia to Florida, car$500 to $650
Georgia to Florida, SUV$550 to $750
Georgia to Florida, pickup truck$550 to $650

The ten car listings all started in Acworth, northwest of Atlanta: five to Jacksonville, about 400 miles, cost $500 each, and five to the Miami area, about 700 miles, cost $525 to $650. SUVs from Atlanta, Acworth, Dalton and Lake City ran $550 to $750, and three pickup trucks to the Miami area $550 to $650.

Your own price is set from your two ZIP codes, the vehicle and the dates you need, and it can fall outside these ranges, so treat them as a recent snapshot rather than a rate card. Why southbound costs less than northbound

In every year from 2023 to 2026, the median car or SUV going south on this lane cost less than the median going the other way, on our Florida to Georgia route. Our reading is that carriers price on where a delivery leaves them. A truck that empties in Florida is in a state with a constant supply of vehicles heading north, so the southbound leg is easy to fill. If you are moving a car down now and bringing one back later, price the two legs separately.

Inside the range, these are the things that move a Georgia to Florida price:

  • How far south it goes. Jacksonville is about 345 miles from Atlanta and Miami about 660, under the same lane name.
  • Where in Georgia it starts. Metro Atlanta sits on the main carrier corridors. A farm address in south Georgia or a barrier-island home near Brunswick adds driving off the interstate.
  • The vehicle. Pickups are one in eight vehicles on this lane and take more deck space than a sedan. An inoperable vehicle needs a winch.
  • Open or enclosed. Enclosed transport costs substantially more, because the trailer holds fewer vehicles and the equipment is scarcer.

South metro Atlanta21%

West metro Atlanta10%
Savannah and coastal Georgia9%
Macon and Warner Robins7%

Metro Atlanta supplied just over three quarters of our Georgia to Florida pickups, spread across the north suburbs, the south side, the city and the west side. Atlanta pickups start on I-75 or within a few miles of it, which is the whole road to Florida.

The difference from the northbound lane is middle and south Georgia. Macon and Warner Robins, home to Robins Air Force Base, and south Georgia towns such as Valdosta and Tifton made up about 13 percent of southbound pickups, against 2 percent of the cars going north. Savannah and the coast added another 9 percent, and those loads run down I-95 rather than I-75.

Almost half went to South Florida: Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood and West Palm Beach. An Atlanta load bound for Orlando or South Florida usually leaves I-75 for Florida's Turnpike at Wildwood; Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida deliveries stay on I-75 all the way. The Treasure and Space Coasts, from Melbourne down to Port St. Lucie, took 7 percent.

How long does it take to ship a car from Georgia to Florida?

Based on our historical shipment data for this lane, the median loaded transit time was 1 day. Nearly three quarters of vehicles were delivered the day after pickup, and close to nine in ten within 1 to 2 days. Pickups from every side of metro Atlanta ran to the same one-day median.

Before that comes the pickup window: usually 2 to 5 business days from booking on standard service, or 24 to 72 hours with expedited auto transport. Half of our Georgia to Florida orders were booked three days or less before pickup, so a short-notice move is normal here. These figures describe past shipments and are not a guaranteed delivery time; our guide to how long car shipping takes explains how the two clocks add up.

What Georgians ship to Florida

Vehicle mix, Georgia to Florida
Vehicle typeShare of shipments
Cars and sedans49%
SUVs and crossovers34%
Pickup trucks12%
Vans and minivans4%
Motorcycles1%

Pickup trucks are one in eight vehicles on this lane, a higher share than on the Florida to Georgia side. The cars also skew older: 37 percent were model year 2010 or earlier, and only 6 percent were 2023 models or newer. That fits a short lane where people ship the second car, the student's car or the one they would rather not drive 600 miles.

For an everyday vehicle, an open carrier is the practical choice on a one-day haul. Choose enclosed for a classic or a high-value car, or if it is heading into Florida in late summer, when afternoon thunderstorms bring hail.

Timing a Georgia to Florida shipment

There is no snowbird rush on this lane. In our records, pickups split almost evenly across the year, 33 percent from January to April, 38 percent from May to August and 29 percent from September to December, with June the single busiest month. You can book this lane in any season without competing with a seasonal peak.

The one thing to plan around is the Atlantic hurricane season, June through November. When a storm is heading for Florida, carriers wait rather than drive into it, and delivery dates move with them. Build a day or two of slack into an August to October delivery.

How a Georgia to Florida shipment works

  1. Quote. Give us the Georgia pickup address, the Florida delivery address, the vehicle and your dates. You get one all-inclusive price, and no deposit is taken before a driver is booked.
  2. Book. We assign a vetted carrier heading south on I-75 or I-95 and agree a pickup window with you.
  3. Pickup. The driver inspects and photographs the vehicle and you both sign the Bill of Lading. On narrow, tree-lined streets in intown Atlanta neighborhoods, the driver may ask to meet on a wider road nearby.
  4. Delivery. You inspect the car with the driver in Florida and sign for it. Many Florida condos and gated communities do not admit a full-size carrier, so a meeting point just outside is routine.

How these figures were calculated

Everything above comes from aggregated Neptune Auto Transport records of Georgia to Florida orders placed from August 2022 to August 2026, not counting voided orders. The price range uses only cars and SUVs picked up in the 24 months stated above it. Areas are grouped by ZIP code prefix, and transit counts only shipments with a confirmed pickup and delivery date, from the day the car was loaded; same-day records were set aside, which left the median unchanged. Percentages are rounded so each table totals 100. We show no individual shipment, customer, address or price, and none of these figures guarantees a future price or delivery time.
