How long does it take to ship a car from Colorado to Florida?

The median was 4 days from loading to delivery, and more than eight in ten cars arrived in 3 to 5 days. None arrived the next day; this is a long lane. Where the car went in Florida mattered more than where it started. Denver-area cars reached South Florida in 3 days at the median, Tampa Bay in 4 and Greater Orlando in 5, even though Orlando is closer. Winter pickups ran the same 4-day median as the rest of the year.

By road, Denver to Miami is about 2,070 miles, Denver to Tampa about 1,860 and Denver to Orlando about 1,840. On a lane this long, the pickup window matters too: 2 to 5 business days after booking on standard service, or sooner with expedited auto transport. The medians come from completed shipments and are not a promised date.

Florida’s hurricane season and your delivery date

A delivery between June 1 and November 30 falls inside Florida’s hurricane season, as NOAA’s National Hurricane Center dates it. In our records, deliveries from June to November took no longer than the rest of the year, but keep your delivery window a little flexible if a storm is in the forecast. See NOAA’s tropical cyclone climatology for the season’s timing.

Open or enclosed on a 2,000-mile trip

An open carrier handles most Colorado to Florida auto transport at the lowest cost, and it is the usual choice for a daily driver on a long cross-country trip. Enclosed transport keeps a luxury car, a new SUV or a classic out of summer storms and road debris for four days, and it needs a few more days of notice. Our Denver auto transport page covers both options.

Registering a Colorado car in Florida

Florida moves fast. New residents have 10 days to title and register a vehicle, and you need a policy from a Florida-licensed insurance agent first. A car not titled in Florida also needs a VIN verification, which a notary, a Florida dealer or a law enforcement officer can do. FLHSMV’s new resident page lists the documents.

  • Book early if your dates are fixed; earlier booking gives you more carriers to choose from, and expedited auto transport covers a firm date.
  • Tell us about a mountain address, a steep driveway or a gravel road, so we send a carrier that fits.
  • Move your belongings separately; the car can carry only a light load below the windows (what is allowed).
  • Keep the Bill of Lading and your photos together for four days on the road and the Florida handover.

How we measured it

What you see here is Neptune Auto Transport’s own Colorado to Florida data: orders placed from May 2022 to August 2026, voided orders removed. ZIP codes are grouped into areas by their first three digits. Each shipment had both dates, so transit, from loading to delivery, covers them all. The lane is compared with our 75 busiest interstate lanes. Table shares are rounded to 100. We publish no customer details, and nothing on this page commits us to a price or a delivery day.
