Florida to Maryland Car Shipping
Florida to Maryland auto transport, door to door, from anywhere in Florida to the Baltimore area, the DC suburbs and the Eastern Shore. In our records, the median trip took 2 days.
Florida to Maryland car shipping, in Neptune Auto Transport’s records, ends all over the state. About 45% of the cars we delivered went to the Baltimore area, 39% to the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. and Southern Maryland, and 16% to the Eastern Shore. Almost half were SUVs, and the median trip took 2 days once loaded. In late September and early October 2026, most cars on this route went for about $800 to $900 on an open carrier, door to door. If you are moving from Florida to Maryland, here is what it costs, how long it takes and how to title the car.
Recent prices for cars, SUVs, pickups and vans heading north
These figures come from recent shipments on this route, not from a quote. They show what an operable vehicle cost to move from Florida to Maryland on an open carrier, door to door, in late September and early October 2026.
| Vehicle | Recent price range |
|---|---|
| Car or sedan | $800 to $900 |
| SUV or crossover | $750 to $900 |
| Pickup truck | $900 to $1,200 |
| Van | $850 to $1,000 |
The pickups behind these rates were spread across Florida, from the Panhandle and the Gulf Coast to Palm Beach County and Miami, so they fit most of the state. They are recent typical prices, not a fixed rate, and they move during the year. Your own quote depends on the exact pickup and delivery addresses, the vehicle, your dates and which carriers are running north that week. In the same weeks, shipping the other way cost more for every vehicle type; our guide to shipping a car from Maryland to Florida has those prices.
What brings an FL to MD quote down: an open carrier rather than an enclosed trailer, a pickup window of a few days instead of one fixed date, and meeting the driver on a wider street when yours is tight. A lifted pickup, a roof box or a car that does not run costs more, because fewer carriers can take it. Every quote is free and all-inclusive, and nothing is due before a driver is booked; after that, a reservation fee holds the spot and the balance goes to the driver at delivery (how booking works).
Baltimore, the DC suburbs or the Eastern Shore: where our cars were delivered
| Delivery area | Share of deliveries |
|---|---|
| Baltimore area (Baltimore County, Howard, Anne Arundel, Carroll) | 45% |
| Washington, D.C. suburbs and Southern Maryland | 39% |
| Eastern Shore | 16% |
The Baltimore area took 45% of the cars. Nearly all went to the suburbs rather than the city: Towson, Dundalk, Rosedale, Pikesville and Catonsville in Baltimore County, and Randallstown, Glen Burnie, Elkridge, Ellicott City, Columbia and Westminster farther out. Our Baltimore page covers the city itself. Deliveries on the Baltimore side took 2 days at the median.
The Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. and Southern Maryland took 39%: Silver Spring, Germantown, Takoma Park and Gaithersburg in Montgomery County, Laurel, Hyattsville and Clinton in Prince George’s County, and Brandywine and Lexington Park to the south. These ran 2 days at the median as well. The DC suburbs mattered even more on our Texas to Maryland route, where they took six in ten cars.
The Eastern Shore took about one in six: Salisbury twice, Crisfield, Centreville and North East, at the head of the Chesapeake Bay. Those trips also took 2 days at the median. Out on the Shore, a farm lane or a narrow town street can mean meeting the driver on the nearest road a full carrier can use.
From Fort Lauderdale to Cape Coral: where the trips started in Florida
| Pickup area | Share of pickups |
|---|---|
| South Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach) | 45% |
| Greater Orlando | 19% |
| Other Florida (Southwest Florida, Tampa Bay, The Villages, Daytona Beach, Jacksonville) | 36% |
South Florida supplied 45% of pickups. Fort Lauderdale came up more often than any other Florida city, followed by Delray Beach, with single pickups from Wellington, Boca Raton, Pompano Beach, Plantation, Southwest Ranches, Hollywood, Miami, Hialeah and Opa-locka. Greater Orlando supplied about a fifth: Kissimmee, Lake Mary, Apopka, Winter Garden and Longwood, all around Orlando.
The rest started all over the peninsula: Lehigh Acres, Cape Coral and Immokalee in Southwest Florida, Riverview, Clearwater and Tampa on Tampa Bay, The Villages, Daytona Beach and Jacksonville. Wherever your car is in Florida, the first leg is a drive to I-95 or I-75 and then north.
Two days north on I-95, from Jacksonville or from Miami
From loading to delivery the median trip took 2 days, and 94% of cars arrived within 3 days. Where the car started made little difference: pickups in South Florida and pickups elsewhere in the state both took 2 days at the median, and so did deliveries to each part of Maryland.
Google puts Jacksonville to Baltimore at about 752 miles, or 11 hours of driving, and Miami to Baltimore at about 1,098 miles, or 16 hours, with both routes running up I-95. Those numbers are for one driver in one car. A carrier hauls several vehicles and stops for each of them, which is why the trip is measured in days.
The pickup date is its own question. It turns on where in Florida the car sits, which carriers are loading northbound that week and how flexible your dates are, and we agree a pickup window with you once a carrier is assigned. If a date cannot move, ask about expedited auto transport. Our medians describe trips already finished, not a delivery date we can promise.
Almost half SUVs: shipping a crossover, pickup or van to Maryland
| Vehicle type | Share of shipments |
|---|---|
| SUVs and crossovers | 48% |
| Cars and sedans | 29% |
| Pickup trucks, motorcycles and a van | 23% |
SUVs and crossovers made up almost half of what we moved north, from a Jeep Patriot and a Saturn Vue to a BMW X3, a Volkswagen Atlas and a 2026 Lexus NX350h. Cars were under a third, among them a Bentley Flying Spur, a Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 and an Audi A7. The rest were four pickups (a 1993 Ford F-150, a 2005 Nissan Frontier, a Ford Explorer Sport Trac and an F-150 Raptor), two motorcycles and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. The median model year was 2016; about a quarter were 2010 or older and about a third 2020 or newer.
Shipping an SUV or a pickup from Florida to Maryland? Mention a lift kit, a roof box, a topper or oversized tires when you book, because those decide which carriers can take it, and our guide to shipping an SUV or truck covers the rest. SUVs and cars both took 2 days at the median on this route. A vehicle that does not run can go too, on a carrier with a winch.
Open carrier, enclosed trailer and door-to-door delivery in Maryland
An open carrier handles most car transport from Florida to Maryland, and the price table above is for open carriers. An enclosed trailer costs more and takes longer to book, but it is worth pricing for a car like the Bentley or the CLS 63 in our records, for fresh paint, or for a low car that needs a liftgate (luxury and exotic transport). Our guide to open vs enclosed transport weighs the two.
Door to door means the carrier comes as close to your address as it can legally and safely get. Plenty of Baltimore rowhouse blocks, older streets inside the Beltway and lanes on the Eastern Shore cannot take a full-size carrier, so the driver calls ahead and meets you at a nearby lot or a wider road. Tell us about gates, low trees or parking limits when you book.
Titling a Florida car in Maryland: 60 days, Safety Inspection, then VEIP
Titling the car is a separate job from shipping it. The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration gives new residents 60 days after moving to title and register a vehicle brought from another state. Most used vehicles first need a Maryland Safety Inspection at a licensed station, and the certificate stays valid for 90 days. At the MVA you bring the Florida title, your Maryland insurance details and a Maryland license or proof of address.
Emissions come later. The Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program is not part of the safety inspection: the MVA mails a VEIP notice about three months after you register, and testing applies in 13 counties and Baltimore City, including Montgomery, Prince George’s, Baltimore, Howard and Anne Arundel. Wicomico and Somerset counties, around Salisbury and Crisfield, are not on the list. If a lender holds your Florida title, ask the lender how it will send the title to Maryland.
Before the carrier arrives in Florida:
- Keep the Florida title with you. The MVA needs it, and paperwork left in the glove box travels with the truck.
- Take toll transponders off the windshield. A SunPass or E-ZPass left in place can pick up tolls on the way north.
- Photograph every side in daylight and walk the car with the driver against the Bill of Lading, at pickup and again in Maryland.
Shipping the other way, from Maryland to Florida
We ship south too. On our Maryland to Florida route, about two-thirds of pickups were in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties and most of the cars went to South Florida, also with a 2-day median. If you winter in Florida and head home to Maryland in spring, our snowbird auto transport service handles both legs, and our Maryland auto transport page lists the other routes into the state.
How we measured it
The shares, medians and vehicle mix come from Neptune Auto Transport’s own Florida to Maryland shipments picked up from October 2022 to July 2026, with voided orders left out and one personal watercraft not counted. Areas are built from the first three digits of each ZIP code, transit runs from loading to delivery, and percentages are rounded so each table adds to 100. The price table is separate: it reflects recent comparable shipments on this route in late September and early October 2026, not our order records, and it is not a quote. We show no customer or address, and no figure here is a promise of a price or a date.
