Florida to Virginia Auto Transport
Door-to-door car shipping from Florida to Virginia, the northbound leg of the busiest seasonal corridor on the East Coast.
Florida to Virginia is the return leg of the East Coast snowbird corridor, and it is the most predictable seasonal lane we run. Neptune arranges door-to-door transport on this route with open and enclosed carriers, the assigned carrier’s cargo insurance verified before loading, and one all-inclusive price agreed up front.
Straight up the I-95 spine
This is about as simple as long-distance routing gets. Carriers run north on I-95 through Georgia and the Carolinas into Virginia, with I-64 branching east toward Hampton Roads and the corridor continuing north through Richmond and Fredericksburg toward the D.C. suburbs. Orlando to Richmond is roughly 780 miles, Miami to Norfolk about 950, and Tampa to Northern Virginia around 900.
There are no mountains, no tolled tunnels on the through route and no seasonal road closures. What varies is capacity, not difficulty.
The spring rush is real, and it is worth planning around
This lane has the most pronounced seasonality of any Virginia route. Northbound demand climbs sharply in March and April as seasonal residents return, and in those weeks carriers are turning down work rather than looking for it. Booking two or three weeks ahead in that window makes a genuine difference to both price and pickup date. Trying to book northbound with two days notice in early April is the hardest ask on this corridor.
The reverse is true in October and November, when the southbound direction is busy and northbound capacity is comparatively easy to find. Summer and midwinter are steady in both directions.
What moves on this lane
- Seasonal residents returning north. The dominant driver, concentrated into spring.
- Relocations. Steady year-round movement between the Florida metros and the Virginia job markets.
- Purchased vehicles. Florida has a very large used and collector market, and Virginia buyers ship from it constantly.
- Military transfers. Florida’s installations and Virginia’s exchange personnel on rotations that ignore the seasonal pattern entirely.
Delivery in Virginia
Richmond is the first major Virginia stop and the easiest delivery market in the state. Fredericksburg sits directly on the corridor an hour further north. Northern Virginia deliveries into Arlington and Alexandria normally finish at a nearby meeting point. For Hampton Roads, carriers branch east on I-64 to Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and the Peninsula, where the harbor tunnels shape the schedule.

Open or enclosed on this route
Open carrier transport is what the overwhelming majority of this lane moves on. Enclosed auto transport is more available on the I-95 corridor than almost anywhere else, and Florida’s collector market means enclosed operators work this route regularly. If you are moving a show car or a restoration north, this is one of the better corridors in the country to do it on. Snowbird auto transport covers the seasonal side in more detail.
