Florida to Pennsylvania Car Shipping
Door-to-door auto transport from Tampa Bay, South Florida, Orlando and the Gulf Coast to Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley, Pittsburgh and the rest of Pennsylvania. In our records the median trip took 3 days once the car was loaded.
Florida to Pennsylvania car shipping, in Neptune Auto Transport’s records, points at one city. About four in ten cars we moved north on this lane were delivered inside Philadelphia, far more than Philadelphia sends south. The cars came mostly from Florida’s Gulf Coast, South Florida and Orlando, took 3 days at the median once loaded, and moved most often in the fall rather than in a spring snowbird rush. If you are moving from Florida to Pennsylvania, the section on delivering in Philadelphia covers what a carrier needs on narrow rowhouse streets.
Where the cars come from in Florida and go in Pennsylvania
| Pickup area | Share of pickups |
|---|---|
| Tampa Bay and Sarasota | 28% |
| South Florida | 26% |
| Greater Orlando | 20% |
| Southwest Florida | 11% |
| The Panhandle | 6% |
| Other areas | 9% |
The Gulf Coast led. Tampa Bay and Sarasota (Tampa, Riverview, Largo, Bradenton, Sarasota) and Southwest Florida (Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Naples, Marco Island) together supplied nearly four in ten pickups. Going the other way, the same coast takes fewer than one in five of our Pennsylvania to Florida deliveries. South Florida, from Miami to Fort Lauderdale and the Palm Beaches, and Greater Orlando supplied most of the rest.
| Delivery area | Share of deliveries |
|---|---|
| Philadelphia | 39% |
| Lehigh Valley | 15% |
| Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania | 15% |
| Harrisburg, Lancaster and York | 11% |
| Philadelphia suburbs | 11% |
| Poconos and northeastern Pennsylvania | 9% |
The city of Philadelphia took 39 percent of deliveries and its suburbs another 11. That is the mirror image of the southbound lane, where the suburbs of Montgomery, Delaware, Chester and Bucks counties send far more cars to Florida than the city does. The Lehigh Valley (Allentown and Bethlehem) and Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania each took about one car in seven, and Harrisburg, Lancaster, the Poconos and Wilkes-Barre most of what remained.
Delivering a car in Philadelphia
Deliveries went all over the city: Northeast Philadelphia, Olney and Logan, North Philadelphia, Germantown, Roxborough and Manayunk, and most often West and Southwest Philadelphia. Much of that is rowhouse territory, and it shapes how the last mile works:
- Expect a meeting point on narrow blocks. A full-size car carrier cannot turn into most rowhouse streets, so the driver will usually meet you on a wider avenue or in a store parking lot a few minutes from home.
- Have a legal spot ready. Many neighborhoods have permit parking or street-cleaning days, so know where the car can go once it is unloaded.
- Keep your phone on. The driver calls ahead with an arrival window, and a quick answer about the meeting point saves everyone time.
Is this a snowbird lane? Not in our records. Northbound pickups were busiest from September to December (41 percent of the year), October was the single busiest month, and March to May carried only 20 percent. The southbound lane peaks in summer instead, so neither direction follows the snowbird calendar. Seasonal residents heading home are welcome, of course; they are simply not most of the traffic.
How long does it take to ship a car from Florida to PA?
The median in our records was 3 days from loading to delivery, and more than eight in ten cars arrived within 2 to 4 days. Where the car started mattered more than where it was going. Pickups in South Florida and Orlando, which sit close to I-95, ran to a 2-day median; pickups in Tampa Bay, Sarasota and Southwest Florida ran to 3.
By road, Orlando to Philadelphia is about 990 miles, Tampa to Philadelphia about 1,040 and Miami to Philadelphia about 1,190, nearly all of it on I-95. Pittsburgh is a different trip: from Tampa it is about 1,030 miles, mostly on I-75 and I-77 through Georgia, the Carolinas and West Virginia. Standard service picks the car up 2 to 5 business days after booking, and priority dispatch can shorten that. These are past results, not a delivery promise.
Popular city pairs from Florida to Pennsylvania
- Tampa to Philadelphia. The most common pairing on the lane, from Tampa, Riverview, Bradenton and the rest of the bay area into the city. It ran to a 3-day median once loaded.

- Miami to Philadelphia. Miami, Miami Beach and Coral Gables to the city, about 1,190 miles up I-95.
- Florida to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania drew from all over Florida, including the Palm Beaches, Orlando, Cape Coral and Largo, and ran to a 3-day median. See Pittsburgh car shipping for the delivery end.

Vehicles we ship from Florida to Pennsylvania
| Vehicle type | Share of shipments |
|---|---|
| Cars and sedans | 54% |
| SUVs and crossovers | 46% |
Two things stand out. SUVs were close to half of all vehicles, one of the highest SUV shares among our busier lanes, and this lane carried no pickup trucks, vans or motorcycles at all. The cars were also older than on most lanes: more than four in ten were model year 2010 or earlier. An older car ships the same way as a new one, but tell us if it won’t start, steer or brake, because a non-running car has to be winched on and needs a carrier equipped for it. For a bigger vehicle, our guide to shipping an SUV or truck covers what changes.
Open or enclosed from Florida to Pennsylvania
Most of these cars rode on open carriers, the standard and least expensive option for a daily driver. Enclosed transport makes sense for a collector car, particularly late in the year, when the northern end of I-95 can bring rain, sleet and road salt. With 1,000 to 1,200 miles to cover, an enclosed booking usually needs a few more days of notice. If the car is a classic, see classic car transport.
Before pickup in Florida
- Book ahead for the fall. Half our customers on this lane booked 11 or more days before pickup; for an October move, two weeks’ notice is sensible.
- Take out the SunPass. A transponder left in the car can be read at tolls on the drive north, and Pennsylvania runs on E-ZPass.
- Plan the Philadelphia handoff if you live on a narrow block, as described above.
- Photograph the car and keep your copy of the Bill of Lading.
About these figures
This page is built on Neptune Auto Transport’s records of Florida to Pennsylvania orders placed from May 2022 to July 2026, without voided orders. Areas come from the first three digits of each ZIP code, and Philadelphia’s neighborhoods from the full ZIP. Transit counts days from loading to delivery; one order with no pickup date was left out. The direction comparisons use the same records for the Pennsylvania to Florida lane. Percentages are rounded to 100. No individual order, customer or address is shown, and no figure here promises a price or a delivery date.
